Day 8. Letter 'H'.
There's a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away
If you look inside your heart
You don't have to be afraid
Of what you are
There's an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away
Ofcourse Mariah Carey’s Hero came
much before Enrique Iglesias’s. And to be honest, I hadn’t heard Mariah’s Hero for a long time.
But I was besotted with Enrique’s Hero. Particularly, with:
I can be your hero baby
I can kiss away the pain
I used to think that whenever I
am in love with someone, this song will be our song. I know what you are
thinking right now! How lame! Isn’t it? Yes, it was lame. Very lame. But you got
to give it me, I was young, smitten with the fact that falling in love with
someone is the only most important thing to do after you have a career sorted!
Only much later I realized the
career was going nowhere and there was no such thing as looking for happiness
in someone else. Only we are responsible for our happiness. I guess, all this comes with growing older and wiser each
year! Some years, when I was figuring out my career and my love life was DOA (which it still is), I knew it was the lowest I could ever go in terms of self-confidence and motivation. I started taking baby steps, moving ahead. And today, looking back I am so proud of myself. I could then never imagine myself where I am today. I could then never know that I was this strong and capable. We surely are truly equipped and
capable of overcoming a lot than we give ourselves credit for!
The hero is in all of us. We are
the heroes, the fighters. We all have the stories to narrate, stories that saw
us rising up after hitting a rock bottom. Yes, everybody’s journey is different
and everyone’s story is novel. But we all are the stars of our stories, even if
we do not want to acknowledge it.
Remember whenever you feel
cheated, down and out:
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you
And here is the link to the lovely, very inspiring song:
Watch it and get inspired! :-)
What a great sentiment! That's a wonderful song, and seeing the hero in yourself is really the only way to find true happiness. Great choice for "H" too!

I love Mariah's version of this song. Nickelback also has a song called hero which is really wonderful.

I like Tina Turner's "We Don't Need Another Hero" for the way she rendered the vocals, the melody and the video. Good luck for the rest of the challenge!
ReplyDeleteAnother fellow challenger :)
Now this song is going to be stuck in my head! It definitely has a good message though :)
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the A-Z Challenge!
Thank you for such an inspiring post. It is true that we should remind ourselves of how cool we are when ever we are down.
ReplyDeleteThis song has been one of my favorites all along. And that surely made me come to read this blog too. Not to mention, I love reading what you write.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely true how we often discount our abilities and look beyond for perfections in others. The truth is, no one is and will be. Therefore, look inside and cherish the qualities that we have makes us stronger. Everyday we fight several battles and therefore, we're all heroes in our own right! True :)
Good read.

Brilliant Naina! You said it so well. We all are heroes and we all have so much strength inside us.
ReplyDeleteWhen you feel no one loves you, love yourself first. The rest will follow.

Oh yes, it is so very true. There is this amazing strength within us and when we connect with that strength, amazing things are possible. I read or heard this somewhere, never doubt the things you can do, there is a Superhero in you!
ReplyDeleteProud of you, Naina :)
True Naina - We are evolve as we age, realizing that we are our own rescuers :-) Enjoyed the read. Cheers, Laxmi.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great point! Of course I like the Iglesias song better, but Mariah definitely makes a better point. :)
ReplyDeleteTrue! It's inner fortitude that helps us, but a kiss or two for another does help ;)
ReplyDeleteVery happy that you found your place under the sun. Cheers!
An interesting post. Any of us can be heroic, although I don't think in general of people being heroes. We are all simply human.
ReplyDeleteCatching on to that song... but I do agree with you on the fact that the hero is inside us... and its only after we have gray hair that we start realizing this fact... ever so slowly !
ReplyDeleteVery well said, Naina! We don't need another person to define our own heroism!
ReplyDeleteNaina, I love both the songs and one singer. No prizes for guessing. But you have written the golden rule which I abide by, it all stems from the inside. Fear and Courage. Pain and Pleasure. Problem and Solution. Be the change.
ReplyDeleteI want to be a hero and save myself from the job :(
ReplyDeleteSome people are brave and courageous, but most hero's we label are just a reflection of the good we see in ourselves that we are all capable of, isn't it funny how so many of us look for love in a single person, when really it's everywhere in and around us.
ReplyDeleteAs we grow and look back it indeed looks like we came a long way !
ReplyDeleteGood read Naina
I'm glad things are working out nicely for you now. Your post is motivating and enjoyable to read and the song you referred to is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great song. It's very important that we recognize our inner strength!

ReplyDeleteSusan Scott's Soul Stuff
We can only hope there is a hero inside. How sad if there isn't.
ReplyDeleteHi Naina .. we can all do - we just need to believe in ourselves .. and live to the full - so true .. cheers to Heroes all .. Hilary
ReplyDeleteThat song is one of my favorites - and each time I listen, I feel energized! Loved your post, Naina!
ReplyDeleteThis may turn out to be my favorite A to Z post of the day -- I love the topic and I love that song.
ReplyDeleteLove both the songs and both the singers...a great reminder.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the concept. There is a lady in California who says we are our own superheroes -
ReplyDeleteyeppers, works for me.
Thank you for your A to Z post!

Love both songs by both singers, happy A to Z.
ReplyDeletemaggie winter
I like that Hero song by Family of the Year about NOT wanting to be a hero. Just wanting to fight like everyone else. The concept of hero is quite fascinating, really. Great post!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck with the rest of the A-Z blog challenge. Your posts are great to read. I nominated you for a Liebster Blogging Award.. You can check out the entry on my page: http://wordsandpalabras.wordpress.com/2013/04/10/i-is-for-i-got-an-award/

I have always loved that song (Hero by Mariah Carey). It has helped me deal with some very challenging times. :)
ReplyDeleteSo true. Each lesson learned should make us wiser--more able to be the best we can be.
