Confessions of a hopelessly romantic

Day 3. Letter 'C'.

"Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine."

   - Casablanca

I remember talking to a good friend sometime back. She was chirping all through the conversation about how happy and blessed she was after getting married. And then like an obvious and expected question, she asked me about my marriage plans. I told her what I earnestly believe in. I said I am still to find love. Still to fall in love. Still to meet the right person. To my utter displeasure, she, very politely, said I had outgrown the age of falling in love. That if I haven’t found him yet, chances are he may not appear at all. That I should be a realist and get married, the arranged marriage way. I heard her and then gradually I stopped talking to her. Not that I hated her suggestion of an arranged marriage, I have nothing against it. It was more because I did not like her cynicism.

You may think her idea of arranged marriage is not incorrect and I am being impractical and living in a fantasy world that I don’t see the reality. But no, I am perfectly ok with the arranged marriage thing. It’s the idea of falling in love that she killed for me.

I believe in falling in love. Whatever the age. There are times when it gets in a little not-so-happy space. When I see beautiful love stories getting written in front of me. But it is these moments that give me the belief that I shall too script mine. It is just a matter of time.

Marriage follows. But it has to be first falling in love for me. Oh, the romance. The music, the wooing, the going around, the getting to know each other, the exchanging of likes and peeves, the waiting of a text, the skipping of heart beat seeing the phone beep with the name, the talking on the phone long into the night, the playing and replaying of the conversation in the head, the inexplicable smile on your face when you are all alone, the song playing on radio reminding you of the person..oh, the romance…

I know I sound dreamy and silly. But hey, it’s a confession! So, that’s how I feel. And who knows, it may happen! If I am like God’s real favorite child! J

I love this scene from Sex and the City. Watch it.

Trust me, if it is not crazy, it is not love!

  1. Love is always crazy - and we're never too old for it. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise! ♥

  2. Nobody is ever old for love. When it happens, it happens, no age limit for it.

This thing happened with me too some time back. I dunno why the married women are always pushing the unmarried to go get married. You're married fine, not everybody around you has to, how hard is it to get. Given a choice, I'd never marry. I'd happpily roam all the places I have in mind, adopt a kid and live life like a free-bird

  12. I agree with the others - Love is love and you can find it at any age. Some people find it early - others find it late. Some find it more than once. It will happen when it happens. Meanwhile, enjoy life.

  13. I agree that falling in love is so special. For some people arranged marriages are okay because it's usually part of their culture. But I do believe there is one soul mate for each of us. I've been blessed to find mine so I know it's possible. I personally think it's part of God's plan. I hope you find the perfect match for you. I'll bet it will happen when you least expect it.
