Sunset and Divinity

We visited Vaishno Devi last month. Vaishno Devi is a Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Goddess Durga in the hills of state Jammu & Kashmir. Vaishno Devi is at a trek of about 14 kilometers from a quaint little town of Katra.

Having trekked better part of the day, we were tired. We had to rush up for the darshan which was scheduled at 5:30 in the evening. The pain in the feet and the fatigue, everything faded after the most serene darshan in the mandir.

It was almost 6:30 in the evening and by the time we finished with the tea and coffee and mandatory Rajma Chawal, the sun was setting on these beautiful hills. All through the trek, my sister and I were too consumed to take any pictures. But this sight was not to be missed. And so, we clicked.

Vaishno Devi Bhawan enveloped in the gorgeous shades of sunset.

It was a feeling of content. To have had a good darshan after the long trek and being there at this beautiful hour when the temple was getting ready for evening aarti, with bells ringing, priests chanting hymns and audible in the whole area through mic and the devotees streaming in every second. It was magical and divine!

Wish you all a good day!
